Abstract
Zinc sulphide nanoparticle with manganese doped (2-6%), (ZnS: Mn2+) have been investigated. These Mn2+ doped ZnS nanoparticles have been synthesized by chemical precipitation method at room temperature. So-prepared Mn2+ doped ZnS nanoparticles then characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Photoluminescence (PL) using F-2500FL Spectrophotometer. The size of the particle is found to be in 5.24-5.64 nm range. The value of optical band gap has been found to be in range 3.87-4.46 eV. Room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the undoped sample exhibit a blue emission peaked at 375 nm under UV excitation. The Mn2+ -doped sample exhibits a yellow emission peaked at 577 nm..
