Abstract

Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was used as the template in a sol gel process to synthesize porous indium doped TiO 2 photocatalyst. TiO 2 is in the anatase phase in both 3% In TiO 2 and the porous 3%In TiO 2 ( C). The average crystallite sizes of pure TiO 2 , 3%In TiO 2 and 3%In TiO 2 (C) samples are 23.9, 13.2 and 15.5 nm, respectively. The pore volume obviously increases after the addition of CTAB. BET surface area of the 3%In TiO 2 (C) samples are much larger than that of 3 %In TiO 2 when CTAB concentration changes from 0.08 mol/L to 0.2 mol/L. The optimal photocatalytic activity is achieved on the 3%In TiO 2 (C) sample using 0.12 mol/L.
