Abstract
A simple analytical system using the light scattering (LS) method has been developed in order to investigate phase
transition temperatures of liquid crystals (LC). The changes of the intensity of the transmitted light through a sample were
measured as a function of the temperature. All the studied LC showed appreciable changes in the transmitted intensity at
the phase transition temperature. The transition temperatures determined by the LS method were identical to those
obtained by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
