Abstract
A novel evolutionary algorithm called dynamic multi-swarm particle swarm optimizer (DMS-PSO) is used to detect Bragg
wavelengths of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors in a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) network. Simulation and
experimental results show that DMS-PSO achieves higher accuracy with less computation cost compared to the
conventional peak detection approach and the simple binary genetic algorithm when the sensors are partially or completely
overlapped in noisy environment.
