Abstract

In this paper a novel and highly sensitive immunosensor for bacteria detection in water based on a photonic crystal optical fiber is presented. The presented sensor is an evanescent wave type. High sensitivity (5 ×10-10RIU (11 cells/cm²)) is obtained with enhancing the evanescent field intensity near the sensing region by using a careful material selection and a precise geometry design of the photonic crystal fiber (PCF)..
