Abstract

A colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensor for Fe3+ and Cu2+ based on indolium croconine (ICR w as synthesiz ed and cha racterized. It showed sensitive recognition and highly selective to Fe 3+ and Cu 2+ in C2H5OH/H2O solution. In the presence of Fe3+3+, fluorescent maximum emission band of ICR at 782 nm blue shifted to 766 nm, and the fluorescence of ICR was completely quenche dd. The color of solution changed from olive green to yellow. In the presence of Cu 2+2+, the color of solution changed from olive green to pale pink. The fluorescent maximum emission band of ICR at 783 nm blue shifted to 771 nm nm..
